BILLABONG\'S JORDY SMITH WINS 4-STAR WQS EVENT

Billabong's Jordy Smith (South Africa) has won his first ever WQS event, defeating a class field to take out the 4star rated Hot Tuna Central Coast Pro in Australia, and pocketed a 10 000 USD prize money. It has been a huge 6 months for the 18-year old South African after being crowed "Triple Crown Rookie of the Year" in Hawaii, winning the World Junior Championships at North Narabeen (Australia) and then voted "Next Big Thing" by the world top 45 surfers in the ASL Peer Poll. "THis is a really biw win for me here today", said Jordy"," I'am looking to qualify for the (Fosters' ASP Men's) World Tour for 2008 so this is great boost for my confidence and ambitions".
Le jeune surfeur du team Billabong Jordy Smith a remporté son premier évènement WQS 4-étoiles, le Hot Tuna Central Coast Pro en Australie, empochant au passage une prime de 10 000 dollars US. La carrière du jeune sud-africain a décollé au cours des 6 derniers mois: "Rookie of the Year" pendant la Triple Couronne à Hawai, Champion du Monde Junior ASP en Australie, et voté "Next Big Thing"par les surfeurs du WCT dans un sondage organisé par le magazine australien ASL.
"Cette victoire aujourd'hui était très importante", a déclaré Jordy, "j'espère me qualifier pour le WCT en 2008, et ça me met en confiance pour la suite".
