This clip features some of the most insane paddle surfing you will see at Teahupoo with monster 3-4m waves and perfect offshore conditions.
The trials, qualifying event for the Billabong Pro Tahiti (3rd event on the World Championship Tour) were won by Manoa Drollet with Australian underground charger Anthony Walsh finishing second. Both surfers receive main event wildcards and will square off against the top 45 when the Billabong Pro Tahiti starts on May 4th.
Text: Tahitian surfer Manoa Drollet has defeated Australian Anthony Walsh to win the Air Tahiti Nui Von Zipper Trials for the second time at Teahupoo.
In thundering 4m surf it was a day of perfect 10-point rides and terrifying wipe-outs as eight surfers battled it out for the two wildcards on offer into the Billabong Pro Tahiti main event that begins on May 4.
Both surfers have been awarded wildcards into the main event.
Drollet will match up against reigning world champion Kelly Slater in round one alongside Australian Phillip MacDonald. Walsh will come up against current world number one Mick Fanning (Aus) and Raoni Monteiro (Brazil).
