HOSSEGOR, Landes (Wednesday, October 7, 2015) - While the surf has increased into the six-to-eight foot (2 - 2.5 metre) range, onshore winds have cut the lineup to pieces, rendering it non-contestable for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France today. "The surf has certainly jumped overnight, but it's really messy and we're off for the day," said WSL Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. "We are closely monitoring the wind conditions over the next several days and we'll be back in the morning to make another call." When competition commences, up first will be Kelly Slater (USA), Jadson Andre (BRA), Brett Simpson (USA) in the Quiksilver Pro France and Bianca Buitendag (ZAF), Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW), Alessa Quizon (HAW) in the Roxy Pro France.

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 8am to assess conditions for a possible start.

Surfline, official forecasters for the World Surf League (WSL), are calling for:

W/WNW windswell that developed on Tuesday will hold into midweek. Onshore winds ease for Wednesday which should allow conditions to improve some through the day. WNW swell mix with improved winds and conditions expected on Thursday and Friday. Reinforcing W swell from Joaquin fills in on Saturday with light winds continuing. Swell and wind outlook for Sunday and into early next week highly dependent on the remnants of Joaquin.
